Ian Spiby

I was Head of the Performance Studies Division at the University of Northampton for 18 years, where my research area was Applied Theatre: the use of theatrical techniques in non-theatrical settings. In this respect I have worked for national and international companies as well as the NHS.

I have written two books concerning Applied Theatre and have written and presented a number of programmes on BBC Radio 3, 4 and 5. An early project was with Chris Gillespie concerning the rehabilitation of long-tern patients in a psychiatric hospital. I have been involved with the Knuston Diabetes Counselling Course since 1999.
